I control pre trip anxiety by planning. A plan can give me the courage to pack up my bike in a cardboard box and fly with it to the other side of the planet, ready to explore the unfamiliar armed with routes and preconceptions. Once there, the planning slowly loses its grip, I start to relax and engage more with the foreign landscape and culture.
